Thea Again- World Lead and National Record
Albuquerque, New Mexico- Thea Lafond looked to “set the world on fire” with an electric performance at the Dr. Martin Luther King Collegiate Invitational.
The National Triple Jump record holder casually jumped a new personal best and world lead of 14.62 meters on January 22, 2022.
Despite this phenomenal achievement, Lafond said “I didn’t like the 14.62m jump. I see many places to improve and that is what I plan to do. It is going to be a packed year with 2 World Championships, Commonwealth Games, and NACAC Championships. I plan to make an impact at them all.”
These enlivening words by Lafond only add to the excitement of her 2022 jumps campaign.
Godwin Dorsette, President of the Dominica Athletics Association gave positive remarks on Lafond’s performance. He also mentioned that like previous years, he’s excited about her performances and looks set to lend her the associations’ full support.
